Internet Cut in Iran amid Protests over Fuel Prices

Netblocks, an NGO that monitors cybersecurity and internet governance, reported Iran has only 7% internet connectivity in the wake of protests in multiple cities Friday evening against the government’s 50% increase to fuel prices.

Confirmed: Iran is now in the midst of a near-total national internet shutdown. Realtime network data show connectivity at 7% of ordinary levels after twelve hours of progressive network disconnections as public protests continue.

The Iranian government has not formally acknowledged the internet shutdown.
