(L.A.) Gregory Simpson, 61, Died on a Street

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 61-year-old Black male that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Gregory Simpson.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt Trauma

RIP GREGORY VAUGHN SIMPSON (January 22, 1963 – January 5, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 1:14 a.m.

The decedent was fatally injured in a hit-and-run collision while riding a scooter in South L.A.

LAPD said the incident happened in the 100 block of East Manchester Avenue, just east of Main Street.

A westbound vehicle on Manchester struck the scooter, which had been heading the same direction.
