RIP GRACE SEELEY (February 23, 2010 – August 30, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on October 21.

Factor V Leiden thrombophilia is an inherited blood clotting disorder caused by a specific mutation in the F5 gene. This mutation leads to an increased tendency to form abnormal blood clots (thrombophilia) that can block blood vessels.

The KCNQ1 gene provides instructions for making a protein that forms part of a potassium ion channel, primarily in the heart and inner ear. This protein partners with another protein (minK, encoded by the KCNE1 gene) to create the slow delayed rectifier potassium current (IKs). The IKs channel is essential for repolarizing the heart muscle after each heartbeat.
