(L.A.) Gerardo Medina Garcia, 24, Died on a Street

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 24-year-old whose fatally injured body was dumped out of a vehicle onto a street in the Vermont-Slauson area of South L.A.

The coroner’s office has identified the individual as a Latino male whose birth name is Gerardo Medina Garcia.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Head

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 8:58 p.m.

LAPD officers from the 77th Division had been called at 8:50 p.m. to 5858 South Hoover Street between Slauson Avenue and 59th Street.

The deceased was a “trans woman” makeup artist and sex worker called Meraxes, who also used the names Gerry Garcia, Meraxes Garcia, and Meraxes Medina.

UPDATE: On April 2, LAPD announced that they had arrested L.A. resident 29-year-old Bryan M. Blackmon in the City of Hawthorne and murder charges have been filed against him. His bail is set at $3,000,000.
