Triathlete Becomes FIFTH Toronto-Area Doctor to Die in July
The Toronto Sun is reporting that Dr. Candace Nayman passed away on July 28, 2022.
The 27-year-old triathlete was a resident doctor at McMaster Children Hospital in Hamilton. She died Thursday after collapsing during a training swim. Friends kept an around-the-clock prayer vigil for Nayman who would eventually lose her fight.
According to her Twitter bio, the Toronto native received her medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 2020. She finished undegraduate studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Her pronouns are she/her.
Her last tweets were on July 18-19.
Spent a perfect weekend off-the-grid just enjoying all of nature's beauty, both subtle and bold, calm and alive, familiar and new.
I'll be damned if future generations don't get to experience this luxury. #ClimateEmergency pic.twitter.com/Yz6jeC3TPj

Doctor Nayman tweeted about the COVID shots in January 2021, mentioning that her twin had lost her hearing to meningitis at 19 months of age.
My twin lost all her hearing to meningitis @ 19 months b/c there was no S. pneumo #vaccine for kids <2y/o in 1996 in 🇨🇦. Miraculously I was ok. Kids now get the vaccine @ 2 MONTHS of age & meningitis rates have plummeted. #VaccinesWork . PLZ get your #covidvacccine when possible.

Vaccines for kids AND a new @Adele album in one day?? Today is truly a day to celebrate! 🎉

Of course I'm peeved that there was a #vaccine pause during #Christmas. But perhaps I'm extra peeved because not only is this a life-or-death matter, but the government also almost NEVER halts important business on Jewish holidays (or any non-Christian holidays for that matter).
