Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 56-year-old “Caucasian” female that occurred at a residence.
The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Elvina Makarian.

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of the Head

The decedent was a famous Armenian singer. Էլվինա Մակարյան
Makarian was born in Yerevan when Armenia was part of the Soviet Union. She was trained as a pianist and at the age of 14 became a member of Robert Amirchanjan’s jazz combo. In 1973, she received a prize at the First World Music Awards in Moscow. In 1994, she settled in the United States, where she released three albums.
