RIP DOUGLAS FOWLER (May 23, 1953 – March 31, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 8:48 a.m.
The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on August 10, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drugs.
Phenobarbital is a barbiturate medication primarily used as an anticonvulsant to manage seizures and as a sedative to depress the central nervous system. Certain individuals misuse the drug for its sedative effects. Street names for phenobarbital include “goof balls” and “downers.”
Out of over 160,000 death records made public by the county’s medical examiner since 1999, we’ve seen only about 40 that have mentioned phenobarbital.
