Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 27-year-old Latin American male that occurred on a highway.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Daniel Badillo Chavez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 4:32 a.m.

The decedent appears to have been a pedestrian who was fatally injured by a vehicle on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway near downtown L.A.

The incident happened at around 4:15 a.m. on the southbound freeway near Cesar Chavez Avenue.

He was walking in the No. 2 lane of the freeway when he was struck. The vehicle’s driver did stop to render aid.
