Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 32-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Cody Moran.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Complications of Acute Cocaine Intoxication

Other Significant Conditions: Substance Use; Acute Myocardial Injury/NSTEMI, Sepsis (Source Not Established)

RIP CODY MORAN (August 25, 1993 – August 10, 2026)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

NSTEMI (Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) occurs when a coronary artery is partially blocked, reducing blood flow to the heart muscle and causing myocardial injury without the classic ST-segment elevation on an electrocardiogram (ECG).

Cocaine use is a well-documented cause of acute coronary syndromes, including NSTEMI, through multiple mechanisms.

The decedent had multiple arrests over the years, including one in Torrance on August 3. He was released on his own recognizance.
