California Highway Patrol heard about a three-vehicle crash in Newhall at around 2:00 a.m. on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway at Weldon Canyon Road.

A news videographer at the scene said a vehicle was crushed between a big rig and another vehicle. Video showed the front of a sedan under the big rig’s trailer and a pickup truck behind it. The covered body of the victim lay next to the sedan.

This crash happened just after another crash at 1:54 a.m., just north of this fatal accident. A vehicle rolled over a K-rail in a construction zone and paramedics were called to see if the driver had any injuries, according to the CHP.
