Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 40-year-old Black female that occurred in a tent.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Champel Corsey.

Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Moody.

Height: 5 feet 6 inches / Weight: 210 pounds

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Cause of Death B: Uncontrolled Diabetes Mellitus

Other Significant Condition: Effects of Methmaphetamine

RIP CHAMPEL LASHON CORSEY (October 30, 1984 – March 10, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 8:20 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 17, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

The decedent had a rap sheet that included narcotics possession and assault with a deadly weapon.
