On September 9, 2022, Shubunka filed a contract lawsuit against Thrive Social Equity Manager VIII, LLC, a company notorious in the cannabis industry.

In two separate but similar lawsuits, Thomas Anderson and Brandon Shubunka claimed that representatives from Thrive Social Equity Manager contacted them promising to help them obtain “extraordinary wealth” in the state’s commercial cannabis industry.
