Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 26-year-old female of Latin American ethnicity that occurred at a residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Biridiana Gonzalez.

Cause of Death: Combined Effects of Cocaine, Fentanyl, and Methylenedioxymethamphetamine

The amphetamine analogue 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, ‘ecstasy’) is widely abused as a recreational drug due to its unique psychological effects. Of interest, MDMA causes long-lasting deficits in neurochemical and histological markers of the serotonergic neurons in the brain of different animal species.
