RIP BARBARA KNIPE (October 8, 1943 – December 19, 2022)

Chronic heavy drinking is known to raise blood pressure, which can lead to hypertensive heart disease. Over time, excessive alcohol intake can cause the heart muscle to weaken (cardiomyopathy) and contribute to arrhythmias, increasing the risk of heart failure and other cardiovascular issues.
Alcohol consumption can lead to a state of ketosis known as alcoholic ketoacidosis. This condition arises when the body metabolizes fat for energy due to insufficient carbohydrate intake and impaired insulin function, often seen in chronic alcoholics.
