(L.A.) Baldemar Sandoval, 39, Died on the 210 Fwy

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old Hispanic male that occurred on the 210 Freeway.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Baldemar Sandoval.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Blunt Traumatic Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 2:50 a.m.
The decedent was an off-duty LAPD officer who worked out of the department’s Central Division. He was fatally injured when his vehicle rear-ended a big rig on the 210 Freeway in Glendora.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer Sandoval, his Central Area family and the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department during this difficult time.

“With great sadness I share that earlier this morning a police officer on his way home from work was involved in a traffic collision on the 210 Freeway,” Police Chief Michel Moore tweeted. “I send my deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and friends as we mourn this tragedy.”
CHP said the crash happened at around 2:30 a.m. on the eastbound freeway, west of Grand Avenue. Paramedics dispatched to the location at 2:37 a.m. did not take anyone to a hospital.
The officer was the lone occupant inside his vehicle. He appears to have been of Uruguayan descent.
