Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old Hispanic female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Ashley Cordero.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: KCNH2-Associated Cardiomyopathy

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 12:06 a.m.

The decedent may actually have passed away Friday night, March 14.

The KCNH2 gene encodes a protein that forms a potassium channel (also known as hERG1) crucial for the electrical activity of the heart. These channels help “recharge” the cardiac muscle after each heartbeat, maintaining a regular rhythm by regulating the flow of potassium ions out of cardiac cells.
