(L.A.) Arcely Echeverria, 24, Died in Acura Crash

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 24-year-old female of Latin American ethnicity that occurred in a vehicle.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Arcely Echeverria.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt Traumatic Injuries

One of the victims in a multi-vehicle accident in Covina. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. at North Grand Avenue and East Toni Drive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

NEWS REPORT ON CRASH

A suspected drunk driver was arrested for a crash near West Covina that killed two of his passengers and injured him and another passenger.

The coroner’s office identified the people killed in the Saturday crash as Arcely Echeverria, 24, of La Puente and Jordan Gomez, 31, of Azusa.

The crash happened on Grand Avenue, south of Virginia Avenue, in the unincorporated county area near West Covina.

An Acura RSX was speeding south on Grand just before 7:30 a.m., and the driver turned to the right for some reason, directly into the parked cars.

One of the women sitting in the back seat of the Acura died at the scene. The man sitting in the front-passenger seat died at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

The driver suffered moderate injuries, with the second woman in the back seat suffering minor injuries.

The CHP arrested the driver, Michael Maya, 26, of Covina on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury.
