(L.A.) Anthony Sonsini, 60, Died From a Carfentanil OD

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 60-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred in the restroom of a restaurant.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Anthony Sonsini. Born in L.A. County.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Acute Carfentanil Intoxication

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 6:32 p.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on February 9, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive from the lab.
This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, overdose.
Carfentanil is an ultra-potent synthetic opioid. It is primarily used as a tranquilizer for large animals such as elephants, rhinoceroses, and bison.
This drug is approximately 10,000 times more potent than morphine and 100 times more potent than fentanyl.
