Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 19-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the young man as Andre Hackett.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Effects of Sodium Nitrite

RIP ANDRE HACKETT (June 30, 2005 – October 4, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 7:50 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on January 3, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.
