Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 59-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Amado Madrid.

Cause of Death: Sequelae of Fournier’s Gangrene
Other Significant Conditions: Hypertension; Laennec’s Cirrhosis; Hepatitis C; History of Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Opiate Use (Clinical)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 12:40 p.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on June 24. This is considered an accidental drug overdose.
Laënnec cirrhosis is primarily caused by excessive and chronic alcohol consumption.
Fournier’s gangrene is a severe form of necrotizing fasciitis that primarily affects the genital, perineal, and perianal regions. This condition is characterized by the rapid death of soft tissues, including muscles, nerves, and blood vessels, and requires immediate medical intervention.
Alcohol abuse, intravenous drug use, and liver damage have all been linked to Fournier’s gangrene.
