Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 72-year-old female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Agia Guirguis.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

The decedent appears to have been of Coptic Egyptian heritage.

She was fatally injured when a drunk driver crashed his vehicle into her house at around 2:20 a.m.

Downey Police Department stated this was in the 9500 block of Gallatin Road.

UPDATE: Ryan Mota, 24 years old, has been charged with one felony count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, one felony count of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury, and one felony count of driving with a 0.08% blood alcohol concentration or more causing injury. If convicted as charged, Mota faces a maximum sentence of 13 years and eight months in state prison.
