RIP DARLENE DUBRAY ( January 2, 2026)

Addison’s disease, also known as primary adrenal insufficiency, is a rare long-term endocrine disorder characterized by inadequate production of the steroid hormones cortisol and aldosterone by the two outer layers of the cells of the adrenal glands.
Aldosterone is a hormone made by the adrenals that tells the kidneys to retain sodium and excrete potassium. Without aldosterone, the kidneys lose too much sodium and water (causing dehydration and low blood pressure) and retain too much potassium (which can disrupt heart rhythm). The kidneys’ inability to properly regulate salt, water, and potassium balance is a major cause of Addison’s disease symptoms (fatigue, low blood pressure, electrolyte imbalances).
