RIP LIN CITENG ( August 31, 2025)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.
This incident appears to have happened at around 7:44 p.m. on the westbound SR-60 near Paramount Boulevard in Montebello.
Witnesses say the decedent first walked in the lanes and got hit by a vehicle. He was down in a lane but then got up and ran back into traffic. He was then hit again, by another vehicle. Other witnesses guessed he had jumped from an overpass. The log reflects that at 7:55 a Good Samaritan said the decedent was in the #1 lane and was still breathing. Montebello Fire and LACOFD confirmed a pedestrian down in lanes, described as hit by a dark-blue Honda CR-V. The coroner was notified at 8:27 p.m.
Mazda keys were found on the deceased body at 9:52 p.m., but as of 10:02 p.m., authorities were unable to find the vehicle despite searching the Chevron gas station on Paramount Boulevard near the intersection with Towne Center Drive, and also “The Shops at Montebello” shopping center.
State Route 60 is classified as a freeway for the majority of its length. It is an east–west state highway known as the Pomona Freeway in the L.A. area and as the Moreno Valley Freeway further east.
