Laennec’s cirrhosis is a liver condition that is caused by alcoholism.
Also known as portal cirrhosis, Laënnec’s cirrhosis is a hepatic cirrhosis in which increased connective tissue spreads out from the portal spaces compressing and distorting the lobules, causing impairment of liver function, and ultimately producing the typical hobnail liver.
