The coroner’s office identified the man as Ivan Villanueva. Born in L.A. County.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Acute Intoxication by the Combined Effects of Heroin and Codeine

RIP IVAN DE JESUS VILLANUEVA (September 20, 1976 – June 30, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on October 7, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
