(L.A.) Charles Smith, 85, Died at a Halfway House

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 85-year-old Black male that occurred at a halfway house.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Charles Smith.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease

RIP CHARLES SMITH (November 13, 1938 – October 31, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 1:20 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on February 7, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back negative for substances.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
