Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old Black female that occurred at a private residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Melissa Charelus.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Pulmonary Thromboembolsim

Other Significant Conditions: Effects of Cocaine, Neck Abscess Caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae and Medical History of Polysubstance Abuse

RIP MELISSA CHARELUS (August 28, 1984 – August 19, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 11:43 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on October 7, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive from the lab.

This is considered an accidental drug overdose.
