(L.A.) Yvette Hakopian, 35, Strangled to Death by Boyfriend

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 35-year-old female of “Caucasian” ethnicity that occurred at a residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Yvette Hakopian.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death A: Asphyxia

Cause of Death B: Neck Compression

RIP YVETTE HAKOPIAN (June 3, 1972 – May 30, 2008)

Location of incident: 637 West Stocker Street in Glendale

Her boyfriend, 39-year-old Grigor Grigoryan, was arrested the same day after a police pursuit ended in Hollywood.

Grigoryan had strangled Hakopian in her home.

Glendale Police found Grigoryan and tried to pull him over, but he led them on a chase through Los Angeles and into Hollywood that ended at about 6:30 p.m., when a police squad car intentionally hit his car at Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Grigoryan’s car landed on the Walk of Fame. (Glendale Police entered LAPD jurisdiction.)

The decedent has an Armenian surname and is associated with the Persian/Iranian community. There are many ethnic Armenians in Iran/Persia who migrated to California.

She was a parishioner of the Saint Peter Armenian Church at 632 Stocker Street.

Survived by her father Sako, her mother Rpsik and her brother Edwin.
