The coroner’s office has identified the man as Webbert Dampeer.
Manner of Death: Homicide
Cause of Death A: Sequelae of Spinal Cord Injury
Cause of Death B: Blunt-Force Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 1:31 p.m.
“Back in July of 2023, my significant other Webbert Dampeer and father of my 2 children was a victim of a violent crime leaving him paralyzed and needing extensive therapy, which was delayed and prolonged by Gardena Memorial. He fought a long 10 months to regain his strength while facing difficult illnesses due to delay of care and ended up passing away unexpectedly during his hospital stay.”
