Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 71-year-old Black male that occurred at a residence.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Vernon Polk Jr.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Hypertensive Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease
Other Significant Conditions: Effects of Fentanyl, Recent Cocaine Use, History of Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Tobacco Use

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 14, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs.
This is considered an accidental overdose.
