Slain UPS Driver ID’ed as Filipino American Whose Own Father Had Also Been Murdered!
The UPS driver shot to death inside his truck has been identified as 50-year-old Filipino American Expedito Cuesta DeLeon, better known to his co-workers as “X” and to Pinoys as Jay.
A native of the Philippines, he was from Ormoc in Leyte Province and was a U.S. Army veteran. He had been working for UPS for 27 years. He was eligible to retire in about two years and had planned to return to Colorado where his two children had just graduated from university.
Tragic Coincidence
Expedito’s own father, a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy, was murdered when Jay was still a baby! He had no memories of his Dad being alive, and he basically grew up rudderless.
Jay is survived by his wife of thirteen years, fellow Ormoc native Cindy de Leon, as well as two adult Eurasian children — son Devin and daughter Malea Wayne.
Who Killed the UPS Driver?
De Leon was shot five times in the chest by another Filipino American, a childhood friend named Rhean Fontanoza, 47 years old. They both lived in Aliso Viejo, barely a mile from each other. Jay had reportedly helped Rhean get a job at UPS and for awhile they were both driving the same area, until the younger man transferred to theh Anaheim hub.
Fontanoza apparently suspected that his woman was being diddled by De Leon.
