(L.A.) Thomas Rooney, 62, Died at a Homeless Shelter

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 62-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at a homeless shelter.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Thomas Rooney Jr.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Methamphetamine Toxicity

Other Significant Conditions: History of Congestive Heart Failure, Hypertension, and Diabetes

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 3:07 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 17, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
