RIP SUZANNE SINCLAIR ( September 23, 2025)

Ileus is a condition characterized by a temporary cessation of normal intestinal movement. It can be caused by surgery, infections, medications including opioids, and other health issues. If untreated, ileus can lead to severe consequences like bowel obstruction, tissue death due to loss of blood supply, perforation, sepsis, and ultimately death.
Opiates often refer to prescription medications that are derived from or related to natural opium compounds. These include drugs like morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, and codeine, which are prescribed for pain management. However, the term can also broadly cover both natural opiates and synthetic opioids created in laboratories, such as fentanyl and methadone, which may be prescribed medications or illicitly obtained substances.
