(L.A.) Steven Itson, 66, Died From Drug Abuse

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 66-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Steven Itson.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Combined Effects of Methamphetamine and Cocaine

Other Significant Conditions: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease; History of Substance Abuse

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 4:28 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in mid-March, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
