(L.A.) Steve So, 42, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 42-year-old Asian male that occurred at a residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Steve So.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death A: Carboxyhemoglobinemia

Cause of Death B: Smoke Inhalation

RIP STEVE SO (March 9, 1981 – May 3, 2023)

Death was formally pronounced on Wednesday at 9:40 a.m.

The deputy medical examiner made public their conclusion on October 21, presumably after the results of tox screening came back from the lab.

Carboxyhemoglobin is the complex formed within red blood cells when hemoglobin is exposed to carbon monoxide, subsequently binding to hemoglobin with an affinity 200 times that of oxygen.

The decedent could be of Chinese or Korean descent. Based on his address, he seems more likely to be Korean.
