Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 21-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Stacy Pettaway.

Manner of Death: Homicide

RIP STACY ROMAN PETTAWAY (January 26, 1984 – March 14, 2005)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 5:36 p.m.

The decedent was 20 years old when he was shot in the head in Long Beach on December 12, 2004. Since then, he had been in a coma in the hospital until he eventually succumbed from hydrocephalus as a complication of meningitis.
