(L.A.) Stacy Castillo, 49, Died in Pomona

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 49-year-old Caucasian female that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Stacy Castillo.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Stab Wounds

RIP STACY LYNN CASTILLO (October 8, 1969 – March 9, 2019)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 2:02 p.m.

The decedent was a homeless individual who was fatally stabbed in Pomona by a fellow transient named Jose Alfredo Mancinas, around 21 years of age at the time of the crime. The murder happened in the 1200 block of East Mission Avenue, near a homeless shelter where they had both been staying.

He was also charged with ATTEMPTED murder for the stabbings of a man near Castillo the same day, along with another man an evening earlier at a bus stop at East H o l t and North Towne avenues. He pled guilty in one of those attacks.

In July 2024, he pleaded guilty to killing Castillo and is expected to be sentenced to at least 22 years in state prison for the two crimes.
