Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 31-year-old Asian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Sotheara Pen.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Diphenhydramine Toxicity

RIP SOTHEARA PEN (January 5, 1993 – July 18, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 1:19 a.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on October 11, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

The decedent’s name appears to be Cambodian.
