(L.A.) Shermira Misterka, 33, Died in an Underground Sewer Tunnel

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 33-year-old Black female that occurred in an underground sewer tunnel.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Shermira Misterka.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Combined Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Methamphetamine Toxicity

RIP SHERMIRA JENNIFER MISTERKA (October 23, 1992 – January 3, 2026)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

The decedent was one of three decomposing bodies found inside a tunnel under the 8500 block of Olive Street. She had been a missing person since February 2022. She was from Baltimore, Maryland.
