(L.A.) Shayne Thompson, 14, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 14-year-old male at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Santa Clarita.

The coroner’s office identified the boy as Shayne Thompson and listed his race/ethnicity as White/Caucasian + Latino.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Trauma

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 7:32 a.m.

The decedent was riding a dirt bike northbound on the southbound lanes of Railroad Avenue when he collided head-on with an oncoming van at at the intersection with Oak Ridge Drive.

After being knocked off the dirt bike, he was hit by another vehicle and became trapped underneath.

This happened on January 4 (Saturday) at around 9:50 p.m. He died the following morning in the hospital.

UPDATE: Video has surfaced on social media showing that just an hour before the accident, the teen was one of three juvenile bikers who were creating a ruckus in the food court of the Valencia Town Center shopping mall.
