(L.A.) Scott Petri, 57, Ended His Life

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 57-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred on the Golden State (5) Freeway.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Scott Petri of Valencia in Santa Clarita.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Traumatic Injuries

RIP SCOTT MANSON PETRI (July 5, 1967 – May 9, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 10:15 p.m.

The decedent jumped off a bridge onto the freeway at around 9:45 p.m.

Witnesses say they saw a man standing on the Weldon Canyon overpass, looking down on the freeway before jumping.

California Highway Patrol arrived after receiving 911 calls and found the man had been hit by at least one vehicle.

His car was found parked nearby on The Old Road, close to the Weldon Canyon Road overpass.
