Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 20-year-old male of Latin American ethnicity that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Rigoberto Nunez of Azusa.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt Traumatic Injuries

RIP RIGOBERTO NUÑEZ (August 9, 2002 – March 25, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 1:06 a.m.

The decedent died in a single-vehicle crash in Irwindale.

The gray 2015 Honda that Nuñez was driving was going southbound on Irwindale Avenue, south of Central Avenue, at around 12:40 a.m. when it hit a raised center divider and then a palm tree on the same island.

Paramedics dispatched to the scene pronounced Nuñez dead at the scene. He was the lone occupant of the car.

The medical examiner’s database does not seem capable of accepting the letter eñe and so the decedent’s name was recorded as Nunez without the tilde.
