(L.A.) Rasual Butler, 38, Died in a High-Speed Accident

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 38-year-old Black male that occurred in a parking lot.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Rasual Butler.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple Traumatic Injuries

RIP RASUAL BUTLER (May 23, 1979 – January 31, 2018)

The decedent is the NBA player born Felix Rasual Cheeseborough.

Butler and his 31-year-old girlfriend Leah LaBelle were killed instantly in a high-speed car accident in Studio City after he lost control of his Range Rover on Ventura Boulevard and crashed violently into a strip mall parking lot.

Aside from meth and alcohol, Butler tested positive for amphetamine, oxycodone and marijuana. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.118 and was driving 60 to 90 mph when he lost control of his vehicle.

The couple were pronounced dead at the scene.

The athlete played in the NBA for 14 years on teams such as the Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans (formerly the Hornets), Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards. He finished his professional career with the San Antonio Spurs in the 2015 to 2016 season.
