(L.A.) Penny Mortimer, 80, Died in Saugus

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 80-year-old White/Caucasian female that occurred at her residence in Saugus.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Penny Mortimer.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Ligature Strangulation

RIP PENNY MORTIMER (July 18, 1945 – September 5, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

The decedent was killed by her 81-year-old husband Gale Mortimer in Saugus, a neighborhood in Santa Clarita.

LASD deputies responded to the 33000 block of Bouquet Canyon Road at around 12:45 p.m.

The couple had been together close to 45 years.

As of October 2025, Gale Eugene Mortimer is being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown L.A. on bail set at two million dollars. He is 81 years old.
