Case Number: 2023-10573

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 21-year-old Latino male that occurred in South Pasadena.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Oscar Bejarano Jr of North Hills.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt Trauma

RIP OSCAR BEJARANO JR. (December 13, 2001 – August 12, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 2:14 a.m.

The decedent was a passenger in the backseat of a vehicle who was killed when it crashed into a garage at a home in South Pasadena.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a silver 2020 Infiniti driven by 21-year-old Sun Valley resident David Silva was speeding southbound on Orange Grove Avenue and approaching Oliver Street at 1:51 a.m. when the car veered into a residential garage in the 300 block of Orange Grove Avenue. The garage contained an Audi, which was practically destroyed.

According to a videographer who arrived on the scene, he was told “the Infiniti lost control, jumped the center median, went into the garage and wedged under the Audi… The garage has structural damage… The cause of the crash is unknown; however, it appears speed was a factor.”

Paramedics rushed Silva and the front-seat passenger to a hospital with moderate to severe injuries. The passenger in the backseat, now identified as Bejarano, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one inside the home was injured.
