(L.A.) Noe Rios, 35, Ended His Life

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 35-year-old Latino male that occurred in a vehicle.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Noe Rios, a resident of Duarte.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Traumatic Injuries

RIP NOE RIOS (September 14, 1987 – September 7, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 2:46 p.m.

The decedent died after driving a vehicle over a cliff in the Angeles National Forest. He was being pursued by Azusa police.

At around 1:05 p.m., officers had received a call requesting a welfare check on a person exhibiting mental health concerns.

Responding officers located him driving a vehicle northbound on Azusa Avenue in the city’s downtown area and attempted to pull him over, resulting in a slow-speed pursuit leading into Azusa Canyon.

Rios drove about a mile from the canyon’s entrance before intentionally driving off the road and down a 350-foot embankment.
