Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 64-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Michael Mitchell.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Metastatic Prostate Cancer

RIP MICHAEL MITCHELL (April 19, 1959 – February 6, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 3:42 p.m.

Place of demise is an open ward of Los Angeles General Medical Center, aka LAC+USC.

This is LASD’s fourth in-custody death for the year.
