Mavericks Earn First Summer League Win, Top Grizzlies 96-88

LAS VEGAS, July 13, 2026 — The Dallas Mavericks secured their first victory of the 2026 NBA Summer League on Monday night, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 96-88 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

After dropping their first two games in Las Vegas, Dallas flipped the script with a balanced team effort to move to 1-2 in the preliminary round. The Mavericks built a steady lead throughout the contest, answering every Memphis push with timely scoring and improved defensive intensity.

No. 9 overall pick Morez Johnson Jr. continued his strong summer-league debut, contributing across the box score with his trademark athleticism and defensive versatility. Ryan Nembhard also found a better rhythm running the offense, helping Dallas control the pace after a pair of uneven performances to open the tournament.

Memphis, which entered the night with a 1-1 record after a narrow win over Chicago, was led by No. 3 pick Cameron Boozer, who showcased the polished skill set that made him one of the draft’s most coveted prospects. But the Grizzlies couldn’t overcome a cold shooting night from the perimeter and a series of Mavericks runs in the second half.

Dallas will close out its preliminary-round schedule Wednesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, while Memphis will look to bounce back Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors.

Both teams continue tournament play in Las Vegas through July 19.
