RIP MATTHEW CONTRERAS (March 7, 1985 – February 4, 2023)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 7:18 p.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on July 31, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs. This is considered an accidental overdose.
Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergy, hay fever, and the common cold.
Clonazepam, sold under the brand names Klonopin and Rivotril, is a medication used to prevent and treat anxiety disorders, seizures, bipolar mania, agitation associated with psychosis, and akathisia. It is a tranquilizer of the benzodiazepine class.
This is my brother. Crazy to see this info on the internet but it is what it is. I’m not ashamed of how he died. Addiction is a sickness that can affect anyone, no matter who you are. My brother was a son, brother, partner, friend. An amazing musician, a medical professional, and incredibly intelligent who always knew what to do in any situation. I pray we solve this fentanyl epidemic and help all who struggle with substance use.
Rest easy, Matt. Love you.
