(L.A.) Mateo Navarro Cruz, 14, Died in Burbank

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 14-year-old Latino male that occurred on the Golden State Freeway.

The coroner’s office identified the young teen boy as Mateo Navarro Cruz.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Injury of Neck

California Highway Patrol first heard about a vehicle colliding with a Jersey barrier on the 5 Freeway at 3:40 a.m.

According to a woman who claims to have called in the crash, there were two males inside a dark-colored sedan. “The driver was trying to speak to me through the window, and the passenger was utilizing his cellphone light. When firefighters and EMS arrived, both males were still responsive.”
